Has the iPod Risen From the Ashes?

Active audiophiles can rejoice about an independent little music player

The likelihood of shattering your screen while exercising is pretty high. We all know that data and battery usage can go through the roof on long runs or during gym time. Ever wanted to work out but your phone was low on power? These are all obstacles to jamming out while breaking a sweat. As it stands now, every current option for on-the-go streaming music requires a smartphone. The iPod Shuffle made by Apple is compact enough to fit the bill for a comfortable music and fitness experience, but it is limited in what it can play, as it cannot stream music from Spotify.

The makers of Mighty, a portable music streaming device designed specifically to play your Spotify music on-the-go without a smartphone, wanted to do it differently.

Mighty is the first and only device that plays your Spotify music without being connected to a smartphone. It’s like an iPod Nano for Spotify.

So how does it work?

Here’s an outline of three easy steps: Open mobile app pair mighty with your phone, Sync your music using a familiar Spotify interface, leave your phone and go. When you get back to your phone, you can easily sync new music to Mighty with a few clicks. Just open the app and the home screen will show you all of your synced playlists. Click the ‘Manage My Music’ button to add and remove playlists. No cords and no computer required.

What demand is it filling?

Smartphones are heavy, hard to carry during exercise, have a short battery life, come with expensive data plans, and have fragile and expensive screens. This object would be lightweight, durable, and small enough to clip-on to any piece of clothing, it’s the perfect device for your active life. Mighty comes equipped with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, is compatible with iPhones and Androids, and can play 48 hours of music without any nternet connection.

The device would be priced under $80. However, it currently only works with Spotify and requires a Premium account.
