Amazon’s Alexa Wants to Spend More Time With You
The special things you can do with Amazon Echo’s newest device siblings
Amazon just announced the availability of two new products. The Amazon Tap and the Echo Dot. These two new devices expand the Alexa family in an effort to fully control your home and cater to your needs no matter where you live, work or play.
The Tap, named after its tap-to-use, on-call abilities is an Alexa-enabled portable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi speaker that gives you rich, full-range sound.
It can do a whole lot and is easy to travel with. Here are two things you can do with it:
Maximize Portability
The Tap can be taken anywhere as it easily fits in your bag, or can be carried via strap.
Try Different Placements
The swirl accessory on top lets you hang in the kitchen while you cook or wherever else you may choose.
Meanwhile, the Echo Dot is a slimmed-down version of the Echo. With this new product, Amazon frees you from the tyranny of the Echo’s built-in speaker. The Dot you can directly connect to your own speakers with an audio cable or via Bluetooth; this extends the functionality of your home entertainment system because it adds voice control to your home stereo system.
Here are two things you can do with this smaller brother of the Echo:
Enjoy Higher Quality Sound
The Dot can hook up to your own personal speaker system using Bluetooth or an auxiliary plugin.
Use the Smart Alarm
Add more control to your home and sync it up with your smart lights. Use the Echo Dot puck if you choose to keep your other device in the living room.
At the moment, The Dot must be ordered through an Alexa interface and is only for Amazon Prime members. So you can only get it if you have an Echo already, or use Amazon Fire TV, which also uses the Alexa brain.
